Arsalan, Alessandra and Evangelene bring colour to PHCaféen
On Saturday afternoon we celebrated the vernissage of Alessandra Sicuro (Italy), Arsalan Chalabi (Kurdistan) and Evangelene (Sri Lanka). The amazing bursts of colour from all three artists, in such different styles has transformed the café. Owner, Carsten Andersen, commented while we were there that several guests had already asked about the works hanging and complimented the exhibition. The exhibition will run until the end of the month, so pop in for a cup of coffee, lunch or dinner in incredibly warm and beautiful surroundings. Thank you to Carsten for providing snacks and drinks and the space to exhibit.
Thank you to photographer Anna Klitgaard for the images above and coverage of the events of 1 October 2016.

Difference in harmony at the Natkirken, Vor Frue Kirke
A magical evening in the Natkirken (night church) last week Thursday, where three poets – Jan Pêt Khorto (Syria), Arash Sharifzadeh Abdi (Iran/DK), Christina Englund (DK) – and Mikkel Andersen (DK) on guitar, enchanted us with ‘music’ to our ears. The images captured here by Wael Toubaji beautifully reflect the mood of the evening which was enjoyed by the artists, the Artival 2016 guests, visitors to the Natkirken and occassional passers by. The audience agreed that the sounds and the words though not understandable to everyone at all times (both Arabic and Danish were spoken) worked beautifully together, and the church provided the perfect surroundings for such a harmonious gathering of difference.

Last Chance to see Mixed Media Exhibition at Råhuset
Bente Jæger takes us to particular places and spaces in Copenhagen with her images that reflect her enjoyment of solitude.
Martin Lønstrup Esquives uses his portraits effectively to present the one thing that we undisputably have in common: Being Human.
Angélique Sanossian protests in her series Mouharamat against the distruction of cultural heritage during war with her images of buildings which mean something to her personally, as they now stand in war-torn Syria, projected onto a woman’s body.
Mayra Navarette shares a few of the moments she captured during her time in northern India in her series The Warriors.
The wonderful exhibition at Råhuset will be shining for the last time this weekend 7, 8, 9 October from 12.00 until 16.00.
The images above were captured by Immigrant Art photographer AlinaStoicescu at the vernissage on 28 September 2016

Arts, Children, Adults, Fun!!
Kunst, Børn, Voksne, Sjovt!!
Immigrant Art photographer Alvaro Gonzalez Martinez shares his perspectives on the festivities at Kids Day in the images above
Much fun was had on Sunday with children from a variety of different ethnic backgrounds, European and non-European … no matter … art was the aim – in the form of performance, storytelling, creative workshops, drawing and a wonderful collage of the Four Seasons created by the children currently residents at Ottiliavej ‘refugee’ center (Valby, Copenhagen), Welcome House – and enjoyment was the game. There is no doubt that we achieved our goals!!
See the collage at Venligbohus until 1 November 2016. From then on the collage will be exhibited in Welcome House.

Tina delivers passionate speech at Gallerie Lorien
Tina’s passion succinctly captured in this image by Immigrant Art photographer Longfei Wang
As well as introducing guests to several of the foreign-born artists exhibiting at Gallery Lorien, Tina Vehage Lorien delivered a passionate speech “from the heart” about the changes she has witnessed in Denmark over the past 30 years with regard to the treatment of people with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The intimate audience expressed an overwhleming appreciation for Tina’s frank speech which highlighted that while the negative and dangerous rhetoric and actions persist and get increasingly worse, Denmark’s democratic social model remains a good template upon which to build a good society.

Saif makes an impact at Vanløse Årstidsfest
Immigrant Art photographer Longfei Wang embraces the mood of the moments surrounding Saif’s work at Årstidsfest 2016
Yesterday we were at Årstidsfest together with many different people literally from all over the world. Saif’s exhibition attracted young and old, Danes and non-Danes. One Swiss woman living in Copenhagen commented on the way that Saif’s images forced her to think in a very different way about what is happening to the people of Syria and what is happening to them … in a way that none of the images she has seen on the television or a newspaper ever has. Meanwhile, in explaining his motivation for the work, Saif told onlookers that he felt that it was his duty, as it is every Syrian person who is living outside of Syria’s, duty to let the world know and understand what is happening there.
